Building Structure Engineer
Our client, a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm specializing in building engineering (electromechanical and structural) as well as civil engineering, supports a diverse clientele—including institutional, governmental, and municipal clients—throughout all phases of a project. This includes surveys, assessments, plans and specifications, supervision, as well as cost and schedule control. They are currently seeking a Building Structure Engineer.
Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Head of the Building Department, your mandate will be to actively manage the design of residential, commercial, and institutional projects in both the public sector (schools, hospitals, office buildings, municipal buildings, pools, and park chalets) and the private sector, as well as asset maintenance projects (renovations, expansions), etc. In this capacity, you will be responsible for:
• Design and analyze various structures in steel, concrete, or wood;
• Oversee the production of plans, sign and seal them;
• Prepare calculation notes, technical documents, and drawings;
• Develop specifications and construction methods;
• Analyze the technical nature of projects and ensure their feasibility;
• Write technical reports;
• Execute projects in accordance with established deadlines and budgets;
• Conduct surveys and inspections of building frameworks;
• Develop and maintain communication with various stakeholders (clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors) throughout the project;
• Supervise structural work during the construction phase;
• Ensure compliance with project quality control processes;
• Assist colleagues in various project-related activities;
• Perform any other related tasks.
Required Qualifications
• Hold a bachelor's degree in civil engineering (specialization in building structure);
• Have a minimum of 5 years of experience;
• Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
• Possess excellent knowledge of applicable standards and codes in Quebec;
• Have the ability to represent the company effectively with clients;
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work as part of a team;
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT software (an asset);
• Excellent spoken and written French; English (an asset);
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
